Bride and Groom are last to leave, so guests can throw the lavender for good luck!

At the back of the church or garden the wedding party and parents will form a receiving line!  After saying "Thanks for coming" a thousand times, everyone will be waiting for the last ones to exit - the bride and groom (they will take a minute to relax or pray before they exit).  Everyone will throw what you give them.  Rice hurts, so people are throwing lavender on the way out of the church or garden, instead. Lavender is colorful, smells delightful, and could also double as a wedding favor.  It is a practical gift to be placed on top of pillows, inside the pillow case for a deeper, sounder sleep.  Also, lavender is a symbol for love and devotion and this tradition is wishing the couple fertility, luck and abundance.  Afterwards, the bride and groom make it to the area to sign papers, take pictures while the guests drive in their cars to the reception.
